Today is Tim Burton's 54th birthday!
The director grew up in Burbank California where he went to the California Institute of the Arts. After graduating he became an intern at Disney where he worked on movies like Fox and the Hound and The Black Cauldron. Burton was also able to make short films that were much darker than the Disney cartoons that he worked on before. Disney never released his shorts, but Paul Ruben saw them and decided to hire Burton to direct his first movie, Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Burton then went on to direct 27 more movies.
